AIM
The aim for the Tools
page is to provide alternative ideas concepts and resources to improve
your families life and reduce some of the stress that you may be
experiencing.
The tool
pages are about building a future for your family when things are tuff
or
at the very least trying to maintain your present financial
position.
You may ask why discuss money on a information and
research website, quite simply because it should be discussed
somewhere. I have not met any person going through their own family
crisis that is in a good position financially, lets face it there are
more important things than money or assets when we are trying to save
our children and the management of our finances can suffer because of
the extra burden and constant stream of expenses .
I would give everything I own to have my
own son Jack hold my hand, walk to the local park and play a game of
catch the ball with me. To give him a future I am prepared to
sacrifice everything. But there lies the problem as most medical
procedures cost a shit load of money and some medications could easily
amount to the cost of a small car every year.
Without some financial independence you are
completely reliant on the public/private health system, family and
donations from the public. My choice is to become more
independent and have the resources to choose the course of action that
gives my own son the greatest chance for survival and a future,
because I believe there is a cure for Genetic Disease. We just have to
find it.
Prior to Jacks diagnosis I had some very
grand plans to build traditional off-line and
on-line business's and make money to improve my families life. I am now
using those skills to try
save
my son by finding a cure.
You will find many different tools and
resources listed on this page. The following links take you to the
major section:
I list
and recommend only those products, tools, advisers and mentors that
have helped me move forward, however I will recommend people, advisers
and products only if those recommendations come from several known
sources and they have glowing praises, those sources will be detailed
so there is no conflict of interest and bullshit going on. Should
a recommendation turn sour it will removed and the reason (evidence)
stated and the person detailed.
This
website is funded and maintained by me Trevor
from my wages and maintained during the wee hours between work and
family.
There are many products listed that are
free to download from this site that will have well on the way to
producing your own website. There are also other products such as the
sitebuildit WEB hosting system that will cost you money, but let me
tell you money well spent. They take building a website to a whole new
level of excellence.
There are other sites where you can get a trial copy of a product to
try before you buy. Other sites allow you to download older copies of
thier software for use, in many case's this will serve our needs very
well unless your a cutting edge developer. I will go into further
detail on the internet tools page - topics like getting a $300.00 copy
of camtasia for free with a full user licence.
There are also products that I have
developed which are
also free to
download.
I openly discuss how my family has started
to produce alternative incomes during our family crisis. Some of
these ideas may work for you but you will first need to speak with your
advisers (accountant and financial advisers) there are no illegal
concepts and all income should be declared to the tax office (ATO or
IRS).
Background
My family
realized there was something not
quite right with our little man back in Jan - Feb 05 when he was around
three months old, Jack was quite floppy and not meeting his normal
milestones. I had family and friends all telling me that some
children just take longer to progress but deep in my gut I knew things
where not quite right.
This was around the time Charmaine had
planned to go back to work
running her own business to give some flexibility to our lives and some
additional income. I guess this is where this page takes route.
The stress's of having more expenses than
income with no foreseeable
change in circumstances can add significant stress to a family, all our
plans had been tossed aside in the search for answers.
My wife had become a full time Mother
(Carer)
for Jack, day care was not an easy option as very few if any child care
centers will consider a child with limitations and in addition will
require more funds on an already stretched home budget.
We then
lived in the Hunter Valley because of my work commitments, this was
several states away from our family and longterm established friends.
In Feb - March 05 we where given a
diagnosis that Jack had
suspected? Prada Willy Syndrome
only to be followed a couple of months
later with the diagnosis of Suspected Mitochondrial respitory chain
disorder. This news hit our family very hard, I
found it very difficult to achieve anything at work, I must have
scanned the web for weeks trying to find answers, all the time my work
load kept building up and if it had not been for my mates and boss's
cutting me a huge amount of slack I really don't know how we would
of coped as a family.
I am truly indebted to Graham and the boy's I worked
with for carrying my work load at this time. Gary
Bergman, Barry Rhodes and Mark Smethurst my boss's for giving me the
time to adjust to this family crisis and develop our own Family
management plan to deal with our changing reality.
With the help of family, friends and the
research driven from necessity
to survive we continue to build on the skill's that have been developed
to cope with the crisis in our family. Listed below are the links to products and the technical resources
we use. We continue to research, develop and build on these skills.
